Tucson Trip: Part I, Sunset

I have a lot of photos to post from the trip but I’m starting with photos I took of the sunset from Gates Pass, west of Tucson. For the most part the weather was beautiful — 60s or 70s during the day and with enough sun that you were comfortable in shirtsleeves, dropping to the 40s at night so you needed a fleece. One day of rain, but that’s always good news in the desert.

Molly Don’t Leave Us

We’ve lost a great journalist at a time when we can least afford it. As our so-called leaders ran and hid like cowards, and continue to equivocate and pile on the nonsense, Molly Ivins stood up and told the truth, loudly and clearly. She coined the term “Shrub” as a reference to Dubya, and was relentless in her criticism of cowardly Democrats. She died too young last Wednesday, and in her honor I’ve written a new song, “Molly Don’t Leave Us.”

Raise hell. Think of something to make the ridiculous look ridiculous. — Molly Ivins, in her last column.
