I haven’t taken the ferry between NY and NJ since they reopened the WTC PATH station, but mephron has apparently been harrassed twice by security searchers at the ferry for carrying various Dungeons and Dragons books that were deemed “inappropriate.” So not only do we have to be terrified about terrorists, we have to be insecure about what security goons think of our reading material. I wonder if my copy of the 9/11 Commission Report will be confiscated on NJT next week?
Ben Franklin’s admonition about not giving up essential liberty for temporary safety doesn’t even apply here. We’re giving up essential liberty for no safety whatsoever.
